Suffering From Lymphedema?

Lymphedema is the swelling of a body part, most often the extremities. It is the result of an abnormal accumulation of protein-rich edema fluid in the interstitial space.

Complex Lymphedema Therapy

Complex Lymphedema Therapy (CLT) is the Casley-Smith (Australian) method for the treatment of lymphedema. CLT is also known as Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) and is a multifaceted treatment approach consisting of manual lymph drainage, compression therapy, exercise, skincare and self-management education.

Lymphedema most often occurs in the treatment of any cancer (commonly breast) which involves surgery for lymph node removal and/or radiation therapy. Other causes of lymphedema are trauma, infection, immobility and chronic venous insufficiencies. There is also a primary form of lymphedema, in which there is a developmental abnormality of the lymph system.

Currently, there is no cure for lymphedema. When left untreated, lymphedema can progress with devastating consequences, including significant cosmetic deformities, fibrosis, cellulitis, fungal infections, lymphangitis and lymphostatic elephantiasis. Our lymphedema treatments are delivered by therapists certified in the Casley-Smith method for the treatment of Lymphedema. Some of our therapists have gone on to become board certified by the Lymphology Association of North America.
