This past holiday season, the Integrated Rehabilitation Services Athletic Training staff joined the Connecticut Athletic Trainers Association to organize a coat drive to benefit Button Up Connecticut. IRS offices served as drop-off locations, and with the help of its staff, patients and the community, they donated 113 coats to Button Up Connecticut.
Button Up Connecticut’s mission is to collect new and gently used coats and distribute to the those in need. Local Connecticut residents, organizations and companies collect coats and donate. Dan Siracusa of Siracusa Moving and Storage started Button Up Connecticut in 1992. In the last 16 years, over 125,000 coats have been distributed to CT men, women, and children.
