Feel Better, Move Easier – Without Needles

At Integrated Rehab, laser therapy is offered as a complement to traditional outpatient physical therapy to help decrease pain and speed healing for a wide range of conditions.

Low-Level Laser Therapy, also known as Photobiomodulation (PBM), is a safe and non-invasive treatment that uses focused light applied to the skin over an injured or painful area. The light penetrates the tissues and is absorbed by cells, which may help support the body’s natural healing response, improve circulation, reduce inflammation and encourage tissue repair. We use the LightForce® XLi Laser – no injections or medications needed!

Laser therapy is a relaxing, more comfortable way to address common orthopedic and musculoskeletal concerns. It’s used to help increase local blood flow, support cellular repair, decrease swelling and promote the release of natural pain-relieving chemicals in the body. Laser therapy is beneficial for:

  • Tendonitis
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Back and neck pain
  • Sprains and strains
  • Bursitis
  • Arthritis
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Sports injuries
  • Post-surgical recovery

What Does a Session Feel Like?

After your symptoms have been reviewed and the target area for treatment confirmed, a clinician applies the laser directly to skin. Most patients experience little to no sensation, while some notice mild warmth.

Sessions are quick and often added on before or after your regular physical therapy appointment. You can return to work, errands or exercise recommendations right away, feeling looser!

How Does Laser Therapy Fit Into PT?

Laser therapy works best when it’s part of a complete treatment plan. Our goal is to address the cause and reduce pain, so you feel better while we work on restoring strength, mobility and function.

LightForce XLi supports that process by calming irritated tissues and improving comfort to help drive long-term results. Your physical therapist may recommend laser therapy if you’re dealing with inflammation, tenderness or a healing process that needs an extra boost.

Who Is Not a Good Candidate?

Laser therapy may not be appropriate for all patients or treatment areas. For your safety, it’s not recommended for:

  • Patients who are pregnant
  • Abdominal or lumbo-sacral regions
  • Over growth plates for younger patients
  • Patients taking heat and/or light-sensitivity medications
  • Cancerous tumors
  • Patients with a pacemaker
  • Glandular tissue
